Heritage Foundation Hack: Confrontation Between Think Tank and ‘Gay Furry Hackers’ πŸΎπŸ’»

In a disturbing turn of events, an executive from the conservative think tank Heritage Foundation has been embroiled in a contentious exchange with a group of hackers who identify as “gay furry hackers” from the collective known as SiegedSec. This incident follows a significant data breach at the Heritage Foundation, which led to the leakage of nearly two gigabytes of internal data.

The hack, carried out on July 2, was motivated by SiegedSec’s opposition to the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025, a plan that the hackers describe as an “authoritarian Christian nationalist” agenda aimed at reforming the U.S. government. The leaked data included sensitive information such as full names, email addresses, passwords, and usernames of individuals associated with the Heritage Foundation’s media platform, The Daily Signal.

The exchanges between Mike Howell, the executive director of the Heritage Foundation, and a member of SiegedSec identified as “vio,” have been made public and reveal a starkly confrontational tone. Howell’s responses were marked by intense anger and derogatory remarks, including threats of prison and sexual assault. In one exchange, Howell suggested that the hackers would face severe consequences, stating, “Are you aware that you won’t be able to wear a furry tiger costume when you’re getting *****ed in the a** in the federal prison I put you in next year?”.

Howell also resorted to invoking religious beliefs to condemn the hackers’ actions and lifestyle choices, equating furry culture to bestiality and expressing hopes for violence against the group. Despite these threats, the hackers remained unfazed, with “vio” responding with a mix of humor and defiance.

SiegedSec has been involved in a campaign against anti-trans organizations and websites, dubbed #OpTransRights, and has claimed credit for several high-profile hacks, including breaches of NATO systems and a U.S. nuclear facility. Following the Heritage Foundation hack, the group announced that it would be their last, although they hinted at an “extra surprise” for Howell in the future.

The incident highlights the escalating tensions between groups with opposing ideologies and the increasingly personal and vitriolic nature of online conflicts. It also underscores the importance of cybersecurity and the need for organizations to protect their data against determined hackers.

As the furry community continues to navigate these complex issues, it is crucial to maintain a dialogue that respects diverse perspectives while condemning hate speech and threats of violence.
