Guild Officer Elections!
It’s time for FWG members to vote for guild officers! The ballot is live and can be found here:
You must be a current guild member to vote, so make sure that you provide the correct name and email address so we can match your response against guild membership records. Feel free to email if your contact information has changed and you want to make sure guild records are up-to-date.
In addition to the one contested seat, Markets Manager, the ballot asks for your opinion about broadening the type of works accepted for membership in the guild. There’s also a comment section if you’d like to share your thoughts on this topic.
The ballot will remain open for one week, until May 23, 2025, so don’t put off your decision for too long.

Singapore Furs Under Attack
Apparently Straits Times national newspaper article was overall positive but exposed that Singapore Furs are mostly male, then connected Furry to LGBTQ
⁃ Many furs in Singapore were not aware that this ST article would be run, and are mostly in the closet. After this ST article was published, some SG and non-SG were questioned by family, friends and colleagues simply because they use furry shirts, keychains or standees
⁃ Many Malaysians cross the land border daily to work in Singapore and vice versa, and read each other’s national newspapers. Singapore is also a regional hub for APAC operations, and houses many South East Asian expatriates who work in Singapore. ST readers across countries now assume that Furry = LGBTQ
⁃ LGBTQ relations are illegal in Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia and Myanmar; and leads to harsh penalties under Islamic law.
⁃ Even before this ST article, 2024 FURUM in Malaysia had already been harassed by a religious influencer with 393k followers on Instagram
This document is intended as a historical record of how this ST article has impacted the furry community beyond Singapore’s borders. This was written by various furs across Singapore and Malaysia’s furry communities, with further contributors from the South East Asia region. Some furs have consented to put their names down, while some others have chosen to remain anonymous for fear of retaliation.
