Halo Online/ElDewrito

Halo Online was a cancelled free-to-play multiplayer shooter developed by Saber Interactive and published by Innova Systems. The game was only released in Russia, but can be played without region restrictions using ElDewrito.

Here, we have our own ElDewrito server set up for the Furry Refuge community!

How to Install

Windows

Warning!

Due to the nature of the launcher using torrenting to download the game files, it will flag as a false positive in Windows Defender! It is, however, completely clean, as shown by this VirusTotal result. You will also need to use a browser other than Chrome to download it. If you have issues downloading the launcher due to Windows deleting it automatically, follow these steps!

  1. Disable Windows Defender.
    1. Open start and search for ‘Windows Security’.
    2. Open the Windows Security app then go to ‘Virus & threat protection’ > ‘Virus & threat protection settings’ > Manage settings.
    3. Switch ‘Real-time protection’ to ‘Off’.
  2. Download the ElDewrito Launcher.
  3. Add an exclusion for your ElDewrito folder or launcher.exe if installing for the first time.
    1. Go to ‘Exclusions’ in the same ‘Virus & threat protection settings’.
    2. Select ‘Add or remove exclusions’ then create an exclusion for your launcher and ElDewrito folder (after installation).
  4. Re-enable Windows Defender by repeating step 1.
  1. Download the ElDewrito Launcher (Virustotal).
  2. Run the Launcher (do not run as administrator).
  3. Ignore Windows Smartscreen if prompted.

Mac

  1. Download and install Whisky.
  2. Create a new bottle then enable DXVK and DXVK ASYNC.
  3. Click on ‘Open C: drive’ and copy your entire ElDewrito folder over (you will need the Windows launcher to get the folder).
  4. Go to data\dewrito_prefs.cfg in the ElDewrito folder then set Game.CEFGpuEnable to 0. (This fixes menus not showing on Mac)
  5. Click run and select ‘eldorado.exe’ from your ElDewrito folder.

Linux

  1. Download the Windows launcher.
  2. Open Steam settings.
  3. Navigate to the Compatibility header.
  4. Check ‘Enable Steam Play for all other titles’.
  5. Select the latest Proton version from the drop-down menu.
  6. Click ‘Ok’ then restart Steam.
  7. Add the ElDewrito Launcher to your Steam library to install where desired.
  8. Force compatibility for the ElDewrito Launcher in Steam’s game properties.
  9. Change the launcher path in Steam to eldorado.exe in the location where ElDewrito was installed.
  10. Run ElDewrito through Steam and enjoy!
