  • Singapore Furs Under Attack

Apparently Straits Times national newspaper article was overall positive but exposed that Singapore Furs are mostly male, then connected Furry to LGBTQ

⁃ Many furs in Singapore were not aware that this ST article would be run, and are mostly in the closet. After this ST article was published, some SG and non-SG were questioned by family, friends and colleagues simply because they use furry shirts, keychains or standees

⁃ Many Malaysians cross the land border daily to work in Singapore and vice versa, and read each other’s national newspapers. Singapore is also a regional hub for APAC operations, and houses many South East Asian expatriates who work in Singapore. ST readers across countries now assume that Furry = LGBTQ

⁃ LGBTQ relations are illegal in Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia and Myanmar; and leads to harsh penalties under Islamic law.

⁃ Even before this ST article, 2024 FURUM in Malaysia had already been harassed by a religious influencer with 393k followers on Instagram

This document is intended as a historical record of how this ST article has impacted the furry community beyond Singapore’s borders. This was written by various furs across Singapore and Malaysia’s furry communities, with further contributors from the South East Asia region. Some furs have consented to put their names down, while some others have chosen to remain anonymous for fear of retaliation.

🐾 ChatFurry: An Inclusive Chat Platform for the Furry Fandom

    Explore the community at https://chatfurry.com/

The furry fandom is a diverse, creative, and tightly knit community that spans the globe. From detailed fursonas to imaginative roleplays, furries have created vibrant spaces where self-expression thrives. 🌟 What is ChatFurry?

ChatFurry is a no-frills online chat website that allows members of the furry community to join public conversations, roleplay, share art, or just hang out. What makes it appealing is its accessibility—there’s no need to download software or create an account. With just a few clicks, you’re chatting in a live room full of like-minded furries.

This makes ChatFurry an ideal place for casual interaction, especially for users who may not be ready to commit to larger, more complex platforms like Discord, Telegram, or dedicated furry forums.

💬 Chatrooms by Age and Interest

To maintain a safe and enjoyable atmosphere, ChatFurry divides its rooms by age group:

    • Furry Chat – The main room where most general furry conversation happens.
    • Teen Chat – A room for teenagers to talk with peers in a space that’s moderated for their age group.
    • Kids Chat – A monitored room designed for younger users to safely explore the community with supervision and guidance.

Each room is moderated and rules are strictly enforced to protect users and maintain a friendly atmosphere. This structure ensures that ChatFurry remains inclusive, respectful, and safe for everyone.

    🔒 Safety and Moderation

Safety is a core focus of ChatFurry. The website outlines clear community guidelines to ensure that users treat each other with respect and dignity. Topics that are adult in nature or harmful are not permitted, and moderators are on hand to enforce the rules.

For minors especially, this creates a space where they can engage in fandom-related discussions without exposure to inappropriate content or bad actors—something that is crucial in online spaces today.

    🎨 Creative Expression

Though simple in appearance, ChatFurry encourages creativity in the form of:

    • Roleplay – Users often engage in text-based roleplaying, exploring their characters and stories in real time.
    • Art Sharing – While the platform doesn’t host images, users can share links to their furry artwork or commissions.
    • Character Building – New and veteran users alike often describe and develop their fursonas in live chat.

Because there’s no requirement to register, furries can explore new characters or personas freely, trying out different identities before choosing something permanent.

    ⚙️ How It Works

    • No Account Needed – Just choose a nickname and you’re in. This makes it beginner-friendly and accessible to anyone.
    • Browser-Based – You can use ChatFurry on desktop or mobile browsers without any special setup.
    • Lightweight Interface – The design is straightforward, focusing entirely on conversation without clutter or distractions.

The minimalist setup is part of what makes ChatFurry unique—it’s all about chatting, without the pressure of follower counts, profiles, or complex interfaces.

    🌐 Why Use ChatFurry?

Here are a few reasons furries choose ChatFurry over other platforms:
