Furry Weekend Atlanta slows in growth but still becomes most attended in-person Furry Convention
Furry Weekend Atlanta finished its gathering in the first weekend in May and announced a total of 17,736. This currently makes FWA 2025 the largest in person furry convention on record by a narrow margin overcoming Anthrocon 2024’s attendance count of 17,639.
Overall growth had slowed by half from 4,693 attendees between FWA 2023 and 2024 to only having 2,715 more in 2025 than 2024. Factors at play are economic slowdown due to instability from government policies revolving around tariffs, along with a slow down of overseas visitation to the United States given concerns of more aggressive border control policies have caused concerns and issues for travelers.

Furry Weekend Atlanta 2025 WOW!!!
No I did not secretly made my way to FWA. But the news that came out of that blew my mind.
WE HAVE A NEW #1 Fur Con FWA
They beat Anthrocon by 97, that isn’t a joke that is based upon real numbers.
Here I was expecting the numbers to be lower, why was simple given all the border issues the USA is having with the entire planet. To this….
With 17,736 clearly makes it a 3 way race between FWA, AC and MFF all of whom have topped 16,000.
Frankly I am unsure about AC and MFF even though I know AC is a little over a month away. I say this because on average MFF and AC gets a good percentage of foreign travelers. Verses FWA
Only time will tell

Note: It came to our attention after voting started that Kyell Gold’s novel Squeak Thief is over 70,000 words. While this word count qualifies it as a novel by the Cóyotl Awards, we chose not to change it while the process was ongoing. Our main concern was to not invalidate the votes already cast. Based on the votes, the change in category would not have changed the winner in either category. While this might seem like a minor issue, we felt that being transparent in this process was the right way to go. Thank you to everyone who nominated and voted.
